Building Paths to the Future with AI
Many want to use AI. Few know where to start. That’s the challenge we’re tackling. AI-ADU brings together a European partnership to create a shared understanding of what digital transformation really means for adult education. From AI skills frameworks to blended training programmes, we’re building the knowledge and networks needed to turn good intentions into lasting change.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The AI-ADU project sets out to support the meaningful and responsible integration of AI in adult education. We don’t assume institutions or educators are already equipped for this shift – we meet them where they are and offer tools to help them move forward with clarity and confidence.

Define what matters
Create a shared understanding of the essential skills, knowledge, and attitudes that adult education professionals need to navigate and shape the digital transformation. This takes the form of our AI Competency Framework.

Strengthen institutions
Encourage adult learning organisations to rethink their internal processes and services. By using AI to reduce admin burdens, improve coordination and expand access, we help institutions become more resilient and responsive.

Raise awareness and build confidence
Help adult educators, trainers and admin staff become familiar with AI, its potential, and limitations. We want people to feel ready, not overwhelmed, when working with new technologies.

Keep learning human
Promote AI as a tool to support – not replace – human work. Whether used for teaching or administration, our focus is on creating flexible, inclusive and learner-centred environments that value people first.

Turn knowledge into action
Offer blended learning opportunities that make AI tangible. Through structured training and hands-on examples, we support adult education professionals in applying AI in both teaching and organisational processes.

Build a European support network
Connect institutions, educators, administrative staff and digital specialists who can learn from one another and work together beyond this project – sharing tools, challenges, and ideas for lasting transformation.
