The AI-ADU project comes to a close with its Final Virtual Conference, bringing together all project partners to share the journey, the results and a look ahead. The conference takes place on 22 October 2026 at 14:00 CEST, online via Zoom. The event is open to the public and everyone is welcome to join.

What this conference is about

Over the past two years, the AI-ADU partnership has explored how artificial intelligence can support adult educators and their organisations, from everyday teaching to organisational processes and strategy. This final conference celebrates what has been achieved and opens a wider conversation about where adult education is heading.

The programme includes:

  • Why AI matters in adult education: an introduction to the opportunities and challenges AI brings to the sector
  • Interactive quiz: test your knowledge of AI in a short, engaging activity
  • The AI-ADU journey: the project’s story from start to finish
  • The training modules: each partner presents the module they developed for the AI-ADU blended learning programme
  • Keynote speech: “Designing for AI Practice: What Does the Instructional Designer Still Decide?” by Foteini Giannopoulou
  • Open discussion: the future of adult education, the skills educators will need, and what we should start doing today to prepare

Keynote speaker

Foteini Giannopoulou is the Instructional Designer, AI at Harvard Business School Foundry, where she leads the instructional design of AI-enabled learning experiences used by over 1,000 founders across more than 100 universities and accelerators in the United States. She holds an Ed.M. in Learning Design, Innovation and Technology from Harvard University and an MSc from Yonsei University. Her work has spanned emerging technologies from VR to the metaverse to AI, always with a focus on how technology can expand access to meaningful practice and feedback while keeping judgement with the learner.

Who should join

Adult educators, trainers, instructional designers, VET professionals, managers and decision-makers in adult education organisations, and anyone interested in the role of AI in lifelong learning.
