Lesson 3. Building Staff Confidence and AI Literacy
Reflection task: Design a short AI confidence-building activity for staff
Design a 45-minute activity that could help colleagues become more confident using AI safely and practically. The activity can be for educators, trainers, administrative staff, coordinators, project staff or a mixed team.
Step 1: Choose the staff group
Who is the activity for?
☐ educators or trainers
☐ administrative staff
☐ project or coordination staff
☐ managers or team leaders
☐ mixed staff group
☐ other: __________
Step 2: Choose one concern to address
What concern should the activity respond to?
☐ “I do not know where to start”
☐ “I am afraid AI will make mistakes”
☐ “I do not know what data I can enter”
☐ “I am worried AI will replace human judgement”
☐ “I tried AI, but the output was poor”
☐ “I do not know how AI could help my work”
☐ other: __________
Step 3: Choose one low-risk practice task
Select one task staff can try during the activity:
☐ rewrite a confusing email in clearer language
☐ simplify a short learning text
☐ create three practice questions for a topic
☐ summarise non-confidential meeting notes
☐ compare two AI-generated outputs
☐ improve a weak AI response
☐ create a short list of prompts for a routine task
☐ other: __________
Step 4: Plan the 45 minutes
Complete this simple plan:
TIME ACTIVITY
5 minutes Introduce the purpose and reassure staff that the activity is for practice, not assessment.
20 minutes Staff try the selected low-risk AI task individually or in pairs.
15 minutes Staff compare the AI output and discuss what needs to be checked, improved, or rejected.
5 minutes Staff write down one thing they learned and one question they still have.
Step 5: Add one follow-up support action
Choose one follow-up action:
☐ share useful prompt examples with the team
☐ collect staff questions for a future discussion
☐ create a short “safe AI use” reminder
☐ plan another short practice session
☐ ask staff what AI task they want to practise next
☐ identify which questions need management or data protection advice
☐ other: __________
Step 6. Final output
Write a short activity description:
“I would organise a 45-minute AI confidence-building activity for ______. The activity would address ______ by asking staff to practise ______. After the activity, I would ______”.
